On April 25th, Sentinel-1B was successfully launched, equipped with twelve solar array substrate panels manufactured by Airborne. We congratulate our customer with this success!

After following a complicated procedure to deploy its 12-meter long radar as well as the two 10-meter long solar-array wings, and passing a series of initial checks, the Sentinel-1B delivered its first image to ESA’s operations centre only a little more than two days after launch – a record time.

Airborne is proud to be part of this programme and is currently preparing for the manufacturing of the solar-array substrates for Sentinel 1C and 1D, which are planned to be launched in a few of years from now.
