[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Fokker Services and partners Terma, Verebus Engineering and Airborne signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) for the maintenance of the Dutch Cougar helicopter fleet during the NIDV conference on 15 November 2012. By using the unique knowledge and capabilities of the aerospace cluster in the Netherlands a cost-efficient MRO solution is offered to the Dutch forces. In an earlier phase, Fokker Services signed an exclusive cooperation agreement with the two main Cougar OEM’s, Eurocopter and Turbomeca.
Peter Somers, Presendent of Fokker Services stated: “The existing collaboration between Fokker Services, Cougar OEM’s Eurocopter and Turbomeca in combination with the Dutch partners ensures an optimum participation of the companies in the Netherlands by maximizing the availability of the Cougar fleet. Furthermore, it will serve as a stepping Stone, making this concept and approach available for other military platforms”.For future subcontracting of the Cougar maintenance, the partner cluster offers an integral and complete service. At this moment, the Ministry of Defense is studying the possibility to subcontract the Dutch Airforce’s MRO activities of the Cougar helicopter to the private sector. An item that is high up the political agenda.
Airborne will be focusing on the maintenance of all composite parts on the helicopter. Up until 2011 Airborne was responsible for the repair of the composite wing and fuselage of the UAV’s in operation at the Dutch forces, offering quick turnaround times of the composite parts.
