After a preparation of two years, the new Airborne Services building at the Logistic Centre Woensdrecht (LCW) was officially opened on May 24, 2016 by Lieutenant General Schnitger, Commander of the Royal Netherlands Air Force. During the event a set of NH90 rotor blades was handed over as a symbolic start of the helicopter rotor blade repair activities.

Earlier in the afternoon several speeches were given in the Program Management Building. Air Commodore Verbeek – commander LCW and Director of Sustainment and Logistics RNLAF, reflected on the partnering in the ecosystem around Woensdrecht. “The potential reduction of turnaround time and cost, while increasing flexibility, are key points for teaming with commercial companies”. Arno van Mourik – CEO Airborne, added that the LCW offered unique advantages as a secured airbase, co-use of existing infrastructure and collaboration with the adjacent Business Parc Aviolanda. “We look forward to the further growth of our partnership with the Airforce, OEM’s, industries and institutes in the MRO of composite structures”.

A Concept of Operations was signed with the LCW and an agreement with the Central Government Real Estate Agency. The official opening was performed by General Schnitger. “Today we celebrate another successful example of the CLSK 3.0 way of working: collaboration by open communication, entrepreneurship and focus on innovation”.

Following the opening ceremony a facility tour was given, showing the different stages of the rotor blades repair process. The afternoon was closed with a joint networking event.
