About Airborne's Products
Airborne’s Automated Ply Placement (APP)
Airborne’s Automated Ply Placement (APP) system is a cutting-edge solution for efficiently and precisely layering composite material plies to create 2D tailored blanks. It uses advanced robotics and software integration to enable users to ramp up production, ensure product consistency, and minimize material waste. Designed for industries like aerospace, defence, and automotive, the system supports both thermoset (dry fiber and prepreg) and thermoplastic carbon fiber, as well as glass fiber, core, metallics, and other support materials (like foil, etc.). Its modular, scalable design extends automation to smaller, freeform, multi material parts that were never accessible before, and makes the system fully flexible for part or program design changes.

Airborne’s Kit by Light (KBL)
Airborne’s Kit by Light is a semi-automated solution designed to organize composite material plies into sequenced kits for easy use in manufacturing processes. Its guided light system ensures accurate kitting whilst maintaining the maximum nest complexity to maximize material efficiency, reducing errors and cutting material waste by up to 50%. What sets Kit by Light apart is its advanced KBL Wizard software, which allows the user to create sub stacks and store them efficiently in the buffer, allowing maximum part mixing and optimum material efficiency, thus reducing costs.

Airborne’s Automated Edge Sealing (AES)
Airborne’s Automated Edge Sealing is an advanced system that applies precise edge seals to composite parts, ensuring durability and protection against galvanic corrosion, which is typically done manually. The fully automated process offers high precision in sealing, ensuring consistent quality across production. With an efficient process (takt time of approximately 3 minutes), it eliminates the need for cleaning and reduces manual labor. Airborne’s automated programming also adapts to part variations on-the-fly, enabling users to process shipsets with many parts, and boosting overall efficiency.

Airborne Aerospace is a leader in the manufacturing of advanced composite parts, specializing in solutions for the aerospace and space industries. Based in the Netherlands, the company operates an AS9001-qualified facility equipped with cutting-edge technologies such as cleanrooms, autoclaves, CNC milling, and rigorous quality inspection systems.
