Earlier this year, the Tocardo T100 turbine was tested in real life conditions in the Waddenzee, The Netherlands. Airborne Marine engineered and manufactured the blades for Tocardo’s T100 turbine. As expected, both the T100 turbine and composite blades demonstrated excellent performance. Reliability is of primary concern for both Tocardo and Airborne Marine, which has resulted in a robust and reliable family of commercial Tocardo turbines.
As part of the Tocardo turbine development program, the T100 blades are tested to their limit at the renowned knowledge centre WMC with the support of Airborne Marine. The results are used to further optimize the blade design and manufacturing process.
Current results have shown that the 1-shot RTM composite blade has successfully passed through its 20 years design life cycle loads. No failure occurred on any level, confirming the reliability and robustness of the blade for the second time after the sea trials.
Airborne wishes the Tocardo team success with the further testing of her turbine and blades and will be supportive to her success.
