Filling sandwich honeycomb blanks with potting compound
Advanced composites have many important benefits. They are lightweight, very stiff and very durable. But this also makes them expensive to manufacture and therefore unattractive for mass production. By automating, we can solve both these issues. We can lower the cost and be ready for large scale manufacturing.
Automated Laminating Cell
Our Automated Laminating Cell is a multifunctional system that combines robotised tape laying, laminate cutting and pick & place. It is much more affordable than conventional systems, has a small footprint and can easily be adapted depending on requirements.
Our Automated Honeycomb Potting system automatically applies potting material for local reinforcements in honeycomb sandwich panels. It saves labour cost, is more accurate and has a seamless automated workflow, from design to automated manufacturing.
Automated Kitting is affordable, flexible and very easy to use. It is one of our building blocks for automation of composites and already fully digital.
Automated Kitting System
Sorting and kitting of cut composite plies is getting more and more complex. To significantly reduce touch labor and to radically improve clean room efficiencies, Airborne has developed an automated ply picking and sorting solution that places the cut composite plies into kits in the right order.
The Digital Composites Manufacturing line will premiere its first-generation technology to meet immediate needs in the consumer electronics industry.
This line will be able to mass-produce lightweight, high modulus and low warpage, custom-engineered laminates as per thickness, dimensions, lay-up preferences and desired performance. Made with carbon-fiber reinforced polycarbonate composite, these SABIC laminates will be used for laptop covers.
